چکیده

A brief survey of the theory of soliton perturbations is presented. The focus is on the usefulness of the so-called Generalised Fourier Transform (GFT). This is a method that involves expansions over the complete basis of “squared solutions” of the spectral problem, associated to the soliton equation. The Inverse Scattering Transform for the corresponding hierarchy of soliton equations can be viewed as a GFT where the expansions of the solutions have generalised Fourier coefficients given by the scattering data. The GFT provides a natural setting for the analysis of small perturbations to an integrable equation: starting from a purely soliton solution one can ’modify’ the soliton parameters such as to incorporate the changes caused by the perturbation. As illustrative examples the perturbed equations of the KdV hierarchy, in particular the Ostrovsky equation, followed by the perturbation theory for the CamassaHolm hierarchy are presented. On The Simulation of Partial Differential Equations Using the Hybrid of Fourier Transform and Homotopy Perturbation Method

In the present work, a hybrid of Fourier transform and homotopy perturbation method is developed for solving the non-homogeneous partial differential equations with variable coefficients. The Fourier transform is employed with combination of homotopy perturbation method (HPM), the so called Fourier transform homotopy perturbation method (FTHPM) to solve the partial differential equations. The c...

Simulation of Singular Fourth- Order Partial Differential Equations Using the Fourier Transform Combined With Variational Iteration Method

In this paper, we present a comparative study between the modified variational iteration method (MVIM) and a hybrid of Fourier transform and variational iteration method (FTVIM). The study outlines the efficiencyand convergence of the two methods. The analysis is illustrated by investigating four singular partial differential equations with variable coefficients. The solution of singular partia...

Long-Time Dynamics of Korteweg–de Vries Solitons Driven by Random Perturbations

This paper deals with the transmission of a soliton in a random medium described by a randomly perturbed Korteweg–de Vries equation. Different kinds of perturbations are addressed, depending on their specific time or position dependences, with or without damping. We derive effective evolution equations for the soliton parameter by applying a perturbation theory of the inverse scattering transfo...

Master equations for perturbations of generalised static black holes with charge in higher dimensions

We extend the formulation for perturbations of maximally symmetric black holes in higher dimensions developed by the present authors in a previous paper to a charged black hole background whose horizon is described by an Einstein manifold. For charged black holes, perturbations of electromagnetic fields are coupled to the vector and scalar modes of metric perturbations non-trivially. We show th...

\Nonlinear Schrr odinger Equations, Wavelength Divison Multiplexing and Four Wave Mixing" In the limit of large frequency spacing the multisoliton solutions of the nonlinear Schrr odinger equation (NLS), which models the evolution of nonlinear waves in optical bers, are investigated. In Fourier space the individual pulses are found to always be widely separated, and hence can be easily, measure...
